Life at Haughhead Stables

Owned by Ann Philip and run alongside Ross and our dedicated yard team, Haughhead Stables is a busy, hands-on yard in the beautiful countryside of Innerleithen. There’s a lot that goes into keeping Haughhead running, from the daily care of our horses, mucking out, feeding and maintaining the yard and tack, to organising bookings, planning the weekly riding schedule, coordinating volunteers, arranging transport and organising outings, events, fun rides and Common Ridings.

We welcome riders at all stages, from those getting their first experience on a lead rein to confident, experienced riders joining us for longer hacks, outings, fun rides and traditional Scottish Borders Common Ridings. We love seeing riders build confidence, develop their riding and go on to experience everything Haughhead has to offer.

Remembering Jane Knox

Jane Knox holds an enduring and deeply cherished place in the heart of Haughhead Stables. Her boundless love for horses, tireless encouragement, and generous spirit helped shape the warm community we are today.

Jane found immense joy in supporting young riders, taking pride in seeing them progress from hesitant first steps on the lead rein to competent, confident horse riders tackling local shows, hacks, and the spirited traditions of the Scottish Borders Common Ridings. Her influence and passion remain an inspiration to Ann, Ross, and everyone who rides and cares for horses at Haughhead.
